Stutter-Stepping Heart (2011)

https://mindlovemiserysmenagerie.wordpress.com/2022/08/14/sunday-confessionals-favourites/

This prompt from Oloriel at MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie grabbed me.  I knew immediately which of my poems, from 2011, I would share with readers who didn’t know me at my very first blog.  Click the link above to join in!

Stutter-Stepping Heart

Sometimes, the wind chimes
Play memory-songs of your
Blue-steel eyes on me.
I’m without rhythm, lyrics–
Dancing mute, stutter-stepping.

Wrap Me In Dream (Quadrille)

My quadrille for the d’Verse challenge, in which the prompt word is WRAP.

Wrap me in sultry palms swaying

I’ll wear hibiscus lei…nothing more

You’ll be salt-tang breeze

Coming off waves, scent

Echoing sun on sand, heat

Of Somewhere-Fire’s embers

Imagined…

Wrap me in dream that doesn’t end

With your refusal to open door

To me—

If Ever Blue

If ever blue

Would stir, sway

Call heart away

It would be you…who

Within froth prismatic

Makes soul ecstatic…

Eyes blind to city

Though backdrop’s pretty

I breathe air, lose care

Embrace primal sound

Of water’s movement

Childlike amusement

In dizzying surround…

Let it take me

To far other place

And find your face

Young once more…where

Love’s dreams restore

Miraculously
