By the End of It…

By the end of it

She had no preferences

No choices or tastes

Left to her by he who ruled

Nightmare she’d walked right into…

His chain of linked lies

Had once sounded credulous

When she believed in

Romantic songs, fairy myths

Before years replete with tears…

Now nothing was left

Tears, dried water spots on glass

Time and miles mingling

Blurred, yet sharp-shard memories

Fake-gem fragments…not diamonds

3 Years I Can’t Get Back

Just because lust, love

Both begin with letter “L”

They’re not equal, same

Heart showed paltry reluctance

Flames rose in devil’s fireplace

Faulty myth, Romance

Like menu entrée’s spiced dish

Tricky enigma

Passion hinders intellect…

Married with no quaint advice

Nor sure approval

Small audience wore blank looks—

We catapulted

Into uncharted letdown

No scintillating evenings

Your rage, my mute fear

Intimacy absent love

Our sole connection—

You did everything you could

To scare me into leaving

Why were you surprised

When you finally succeeded…

I squandered 3 years

On dream without substance, let

You deceive, thieve who I was

Should have read Bible…

I didn’t know my value

Threw pearls before swine
