What’s Mine Now (3TC)

Prompt words:  single, individual, alone

Call me crazy, but

How many ways to say it—

Heart’s content single

Soul has rarely felt alone

Can’t recall a ‘loneliness’

~*~

This is much-blessed gift—

As an individual

I was dishonored

Forced to reflect others’ tastes

And fulfill their dreams, goals…life

~*~

I have my own now

Not compelled to match those folks…

Joy, Peace, Freedom—MINE

To Be and Do Peace

(dove from Leyde’s collection

This quotation by Susan David set me to pondering, resulting in the poem which follows ~

“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”  Emotional Agility, Susan David, PhD

~~*~~

How I long to slow

The process, hold still in space

Between what triggers

My speed-of-light reactions

Quick words and deeds bursting forth

There’s no calling back

Birds impulsively darting—

White feather may fall

Love, reconciliation…

Sometimes, fresh droplets of blood

~*~

I wish to catch pause

Stay there while heart thinks, ponders

Before responding

‘Twould decrease slammed doors; prevent

Embarrassing conjectures

I pray for wisdom

To feel freedom, show kindness

Thus, be and do peace

Bird, Holes In Wings

https://dversepoets.com/2022/07/28/poetry-form-loop-poetry/

Written for dVerse poets and Grace’s challenge to use the “loop” poetry form.  Of the multiple variations of the form, I chose the simplest—click the link above to learn more about “loop”, and join in.

Bird has holes in wings

Wings which never fly

Fly beyond her perch

Perch where she stays safe

Safe from things unseen

Unseen enemies

Enemies within

Within tender heart

Heart that yet flies free
