Dinner party chatters on

Pretenses dismissed

Truth’s still enemy

House of cards would jitter down

Mute façade crumble…

Castle walls mere gray ruins

Stately visage veils deceits

Rise up, don’t cower

Before your soul’s enemy

His defeat is won

Already—for the battle

Belongs to the LORD’s army †

On Calvary’s Cross

Christ soundly defeated all

That came against Him

Thus, each foe which threatens us

Including Death, can’t deny

God’s love eternal

His covenant promises

Sealed with Jesus’ blood

Rise up, take courage

Be strong, endure with patience

Live by faith, not sight ✝
