Raven tapping at mind’s door
No small thing…oh, much more
This soul’s tormented, heartsore
Avian beauty’s malevolent message
Ill-Past replayed…forevermore

Instructions from host, Michelle Beauchamp:
“Today, I’d like you to incorporate the theme of “shelter” into your haibun. If you are new to the form, a haibun is made up of no more than three tight paragraphs that are non-fiction/autobiographical and usually written in present tense. The prose is followed by a haiku that makes reference to a season with an image of nature. Often the haiku adds another depth or layer to the prose.”

Growing up, I lived in a house envied for its custom-designed beauty (mere veneer of “home”). Dysfunction resided within, peopled by anger, secrets, deceits, a domineering and comfortless spirit of shaming humiliation. This nurtured paralyzing fear and insecurity, a sense of abandonment, life-long difficulties. I never felt sheltered—it was perilous to speak, my cares were dismissed. I had no hope, heart homeless.
Memory-scars remain tender (‘forgiveness is a process’). Thus, I’m daily grateful for my Heavenly Father’s embrace, the Good Shepherd’s gentle voice, Holy Spirit. His love endures forever, new mercies every morning.
I’m sustained in ‘the shelter of His wings’.✝

First hearts ne’er sheltered
Their ice encased soul till it

Prompt words: giggle, silly, infectious
Some days she giggles
When tired, she’s often silly
Laughter’s infectious…

Let us not speak
Of cabbages and kings
One merely green
The other rarely seen
I can’t enjoy this repast, nor
Your consuming celeb trivia
Do look beyond latest trend
All the glitz of social media…
For, there are challenges
Which must be resolved
World problems to solve
Post-haste, without fail
However feasible
Surely not unreasonable…
Something of genius
A genuine plan
Nothing subversive
No, sparkling, creative!
Shall we ponder, dear
Discuss those things?
And pray—if we expect
To continue living.

Not sure I met the criteria for “opposing forces”…but I gave it a whirl😉
The still breeze blew both
East, west at once…odd, even
To foreigners, friends

Buffeted some days
Pilgrim in this foreign land…
Qualifications
Have I none, but of The Way
Soul is ardent follower—
The Shepherd leads me
Onward, places undefined…
Faith, trust built stronger
With every step, mile we gain
His Presence ever remains

I’m sure somebody out there needs to hear this song as much as I did. Blessings to you.💙 leyde/leslie
I’ve brought this song especially for my good brother, Ben Nelson, who didn’t think he’d heard it before when I mentioned it to him. It’s a “rockin’ Christian song!
I met Ben through blogging a decade ago, and can’t brag enough about him—if you’d like to meet him, here’s the link to his blog:

Enjoy the song! 💖Leyde/Leslie
