“The time has come,’ the Walrus said,
To talk of many things…
Of cabbages — and kings”
Lewis Carroll, The Walrus & the Carpenter
~~*~~
Let us not speak
Of cabbages and kings
One merely green
The other rarely seen
I can’t enjoy this repast, nor
Your consuming celeb trivia
Do look beyond latest trend
All the glitz of social media…
For, there are challenges
Which must be resolved
World problems to solve
Post-haste, without fail
However feasible
Surely not unreasonable…
Something of genius
A genuine plan
Nothing subversive
No, sparkling, creative!
Shall we ponder, dear
Discuss those things?
And pray—if we expect
To continue living.

It’s better to do something constructive with our time.

It’s kind of like a diet–you can have snacks and treats some days, but most days you should eat what nourishes you.😊

If only it was in our nature to focus on what has substance and meaning instead of what is trivial and trendy.

The “if only’s” is a long list. And some people exist happily on the superficial plane, bless their hearts. I inherited the “take everything seriously and be responsible” gene…which guarantees substance and meaning (along with headaches and high blood pressure). 😉
